Although you want to include all of your closest pals in your wedding, and you don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, a large entourage is not the way to go. A big group of guys and girls only puts added stress on the Bride. My wedding party of 12 was way too many and if I had it to do over I would have definitely cut down the size. I think as a bride, we expect our bridesmaids to be as into our wedding day as we are, but them fact is they aren't! Having so many members in a wedding party takes away from the real focus, your dress!!! Just kidding! But I found myself spending more time focusing on how upset one bridesmaid was about her shoes, instead of spending more time with my future husband!
My advice to you! Keep your wedding party short and sweet! You won't regret it a year later!!! And make sure that you don't ask someone to be a part of your wedding too quickly. Give them some literature and make sure they understand what their role is as a bridesmaid, because it's not just to stand up and look pretty at the wedding!
Here are some tips from Bridesmaid101:
Pre-Wedding
If the bride asks about helping her with ideas on where to have the wedding, help her with scouting around and going to the different places. It may be a great idea to drive so she can focus on each location.
Make sure to pick up your bridesmaid dress in a "reasonable" amount of time in case of additional fittings.
Help the bride in the seating arrangement. This can be a very difficult process with the more people coming to the wedding. Many times it makes it easier to draw out the tables and move people around until you have a close to perfect fit. Note: It is very helpful to bring this drawing to the wedding just in case there are any mix-ups, you will save the day!
Help Plan the Bridal Shower with the Maid of Honor as well as the Bachelorette Party!
These will get you started, read more tips to pass along on their website. www.bridesmaid101.com/bridesmaid_duties.html
