Trust in the Lord and Be not Afraid By Christopher Johnson
Psalm 27:4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. I hope this finds all of you well and blessed. As the economy gets tighter and tighter, God still has many blessings to give. One thing that my pastor mentions is the country may be in heading toward or in a recession, but God is never in one. What happens to many of us, the stresses of a recession gets some of us stressed and worried. When we stress and worry, we start to lose of our Lord. As Psalm 27:4 says, "that I may dwell in the house of the Lord", if we lost sight of the Lord, we are not dwelling in His house. God has a perfect, and I do mean perfect, will for all of our lives. Its up to us to follow in that path. We must see to stay strong no matter how tight our finances get, what we lose or gain, God is still bigger than anything. He created us for greatness and the only way to get to that Greatness is to rely only on Him. I hope you are encouraged and try to focus on staying in God's Will. You will have peace and you might not understand everything that is happening, just know that God has everything under complete control. No problem!! Feel free to post and respond. Christopher Johnson out!

This is absolutely true that we are to always trust in the Lord and not be afraid. God did not give us a spirit of fear so there is no need to be afraid. It is human nature to run in times of fear, trouble or tribulation but it the nature of Godly people to stand on God-given princples and the Word of God in these times. Many will forsake God and He will be the first they forsake during troubled times but the one that we all need the most and who will benefit us the most in these times. Trust requires a series of tests of ones accountability of their word and that's all God is doing in the world now is exhibiting His accountability and credibility to those who believe but you can only partake of the blessing of God if you trust Him if you operate in fear you will never hang around long enough to see Him deliver as promised.

Faith - These times are a great test of our faith. Us being in a recession is a big distraction from the promises God has for our lives. Speaking from personal experience, I've noticed my trust in the lord going down from where it used to be and I find myself constantly reminding myself that the same God that was there when we weren't in a recession is the same God that is here during this time and He, like Chris mentioned, is not in a recession. This is a great time for Christians to exercise their faith and show God where He fits into their lives. If we allow these times to paralyze our ability to move forward, live, and do those things God has called us to do or even trust Him, then we are not operating by Faith but by our own understanding, which can lead to destruction. We have to really be on guard because there are so many temptations out there feeding off of our fears and uncertainty of how this economy is going. As mentioned before we really do have to stay strong and continue to fight this spiritual battle, because thats really what this is.

It may sound strange, but when my wife and I look at the rising gas prices and costs for food, we actually praise God. We don't do so because of the higher costs, in fact we pray that thing will be better for all and that prices will drop again. Our praise goes to God because he is our Father and that even during this time of hardship, he has provided for us a means to have what we need during this time (food, clothes, shelter, work, fellowship with Him and others, and the means to encourage others as well). We've had to make adjustments to make the money go further, but that is also a blessing from God. He's shown us what we truly need and what ihas been 'wants.' I pray that everyone is blessed during this time and that you continue to hold your head up and keep holding on to God's hand. He is with you always and though it may not come like you want or expect it to He will provide for you everything you need!

I really believe this is true...but what if you are having difficulty finding God. I really need to hear him more, taste him everything! I love God with all my heart. Yes I believe this is all true but I just am desperate for Him please pray for me . I know this is kind of out of the ordinary. I am learning to trust in him and obey Him but first of all for us to be not stressed or worried I need to have Him so please just remeber that He is the answer not our needs He is!!

Hi Katie, Learning to fully trust God is a challenging process and I know how you feel. God has been training me to fully trust Him. It’s a task! I have grown through a number of situations I have been dealing with. It’s hard not to worry about situations that arise and have uncertainty of what is to come. God will bring us to a point where all you have is Him. In fact I am in a situation now where I now have no control and no other options but to fully rely on Him. I have a choice: Him or turn on Him and start to doubt and get angry at God. I choose Him because He has a record of being my provider, deliver and savior. All I can do now is wait on Him and actively seek His heart. It’s hard for many of us right now with the Economy going crazy affecting most people’s way of life. So Katie and others always keep in your mind that God is in control and the things we can’t see, God is working in our behalf.
